NEED TO KNOW
Don't expect to be meeting many babies named Harry or Danielle this year.
According to a new report by BabyCenter titled "Baby Names at Risk of Going Extinct in 2026," names like Harry, Danielle and Ezra — among others — are most at risk for becoming "extinct." The site, which tracks the naming trends that parents are considering for their little ones, shared a list of a few monikers they think will no longer be in style in 2026.
After reviewing the 1,000 most popular names, BabyCenter is revealing which names fell the most from 2024 to 2025. While there is room for error, the site shares the top names that have fallen off — and what trends they see in store for the next 12 months.

BabyCenter found that unique spellings aren't as popular anymore. Names such as Charleigh, Alivia, Maddison, or Emmitt — nontraditional ways of spelling more popular names — are falling fast.
They also said names inspired by places are no longer in vogue. Think names like London, Dallas and Malaysia for girls, and Boston for boys.
Names for boys that end in a "y" are finding a downtrend. That includes Huxley, Grady, Rey, Corey and Harry, which are falling out of the top 1,000 names.
Names that start with D and K are also less popular. Danielle, Dylan, Kenna and Kinley for girls, and Dominic, Dev, Kylian, and Karim for boys.
Last month, PEOPLE spoke with Colleen Slagen, a professional baby name consultant, who shared her predictions for what would be some of the biggest baby names and naming trends of 2026.

She first pointed out how many people are gravitating toward "short, four-letter names" right now, citing the way "they feel effortlessly cool and nickname-proof." She listed girls' names like Indi, Gwen, Lana and Alba as examples; for boys' names, Luca (or Luka), Rome, Elio, Dean and Bode.
In 2026, she also believes we'll be seeing more "Andi Anderson names" in a widespread homage to early 2000s entertainment.
"Us millennials have never forgotten Kate Hudson’s iconic role as Andi Anderson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," Slagen clarified. "So much so that it’s influencing our baby naming. Parents are using names for their daughters that are traditionally used for boys."
While she noted that "boy moms are not loving the encroachment" on their naming space, Slagen maintained that the world should ready itself for more girls called Andie, Drew, Bennie, Dylan, Logan and Stevie.
