Walmart is pouring fresh cash into California.
The Arkansas mega-chain has set dozen of stores in the Golden State up for major facelifts that promise new food options, expanded product lines and faster shopping perks.
The retail giant announced plans to remodel 56 locations statewide in 2026, part of a broader push to modernize stores with updated layouts, upgraded technology and expanded online ordering features.
Walmart announced plans to give 56 of its California stores a facelift. WalmartCustomers can expect a refreshed shopping experience featuring healthier grocery options, trendy affordable brands and improved pickup and delivery services, with some items available for delivery in as little as an hour.
The company said the upgrades will also expand services like pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members, including access to medications such as GLP-1 prescriptions, as well as improved in-store apps that help shoppers navigate aisles, book Auto Care Center appointments and locate products more easily.
The plan is part of a broader push to modernize stores with updated layouts, upgraded technology and expanded online ordering features. WalmartWalmart said it has invested more than $1.1 billion into California stores over the past five years, part of a nationwide plan to remodel more than 650 locations this year.
The revamped stores will feature expanded product selections including popular brands such as De’Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson and Lemme, along with upgraded Vision Centers carrying labels like Nike, Calvin Klein and DKNY.
Customers can expect a refreshed shopping experience featuring healthier grocery options, trendy affordable brands and improved pickup and delivery services. WalmartExecutives say the improvements are designed to create a more seamless experience between online and in-store shopping while supporting local economies through construction work and retail jobs.
The company also highlighted its charitable impact across the state, noting that Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have donated more than $84 million to California non-profits in the past year — including the distribution of nearly 39 million pounds of food through anti-hunger programs.
Remodels are scheduled throughout the year, though plans could shift depending on construction timelines.
