THIS is the shocking moment an angry mob turns on a man attacking a woman in New York City before beating him to the ground.
The man can be seen walking over to a woman and hitting her in the face in a sick assault, before a crowd pummels him in the disturbing footage.

A local resident captured the attack on camera from their apartment overlooking 14th and Seventh Avenue in central New York.
The footage follows reports of random attacks across the city, where women are hit in the face by strangers.
Just days ago a man was hauled to court after punching a TikTok influencer in the face as she walked down the street.
Kate McGookin filmed her reaction after the attack, telling her 1.2million followers: "You guys, I was literally just walking, and a man came up and punched me in the face."
She told them while sobbing: "Oh my god, it was so bad, I can't even talk".

And Kate is not the only one to share such an experience.
A quick search on TikTok shows countless videos documenting cases of other women being assaulted in the same way.
One, which has 1.6million views, writes that it could be because of a twisted online trend called The Knock Out Game.
The caption explains: "The game is a controversial viral trend that involves punching an unsuspecting bystander in the face with the goal of rendering them unconscious with a single blow."
New York cops told Today that two ongoing arrest cases resemble those videos of random attacks shared online.
Caitlin Keith, 25, told the outlet a man did the same to her in Manhattan last December as she walked down the street at 9am.
She said: “At one point I felt him start running, so I moved all of the way over to my right and he came up to me on the left, spit all over my face and back and punched me in the left side of the face.
“Since the incident, my boyfriend has noticed anytime anyone comes up on my sides behind me I freak out,” Caitlin added.
“I get scared incredibly easily if I catch anyone in my peripherals or if I feel someone running behind me".
